Can I use major credit and debit card in Myanmar?
Absolutely YES! Start from March 2013, you can use your visa or master credit card in most hotel and restaurant.

Can I withdraw cash with my credit or debit card from ATM in Myanmar?
Yes, you can. There are ATM machines outside of the local bank, such as Co-op and KBZ bank.

Why do I need to bring “new-good looking-shiny-crispy” US Dollars note?
In Myanmar, bank and official exchange centers are not accept dirty note. If the note is dirty or with marks on it, the exchange rate will be lower than the current market price. So, most places don’t accept old notes.

Is it safe to exchange money on the street?
Not at all!!! Most of the foreigners are cheated if they exchange money on the street. Some lucky people can get back their money worth. We have usually heard people saying this “They know the magic”. “I can’t believe my eyes”.

Why can’t I call Inle lake, (Nyaung Shwe) with a telephone number starts with “29” (081-29***)?
All the phone numbers have changed to six digits. You need to put zero at the middle of “29”. It means 29*** change to 209***.

Can I visit every place in Myanmar?
NO! Tourists who want to visit some destinations need to get special permission from Myanma Travels and Tours. However, some places are prohibited to foreigners. For more information, please visit the official website of Tourist Sites in Myanmar for the International Tourists and Foreign Visitors.

How can I buy domestic Air Tickets to travel around Myanmar?
You can purchase them from travel agents outside or inside the country. Of course, outside the country is more expensive than inside. However, only some travel agents accept major credit cards with 10% of service charge. So, the best way is to buy through a travel agent or a hotel to get a seat then when you arriving Yangon get the tickets and pay in cash. But, you need to confirm it one day before your departure date (changing date will cost 35USD per pax). Air lines are open ONLY half day on Saturdays and Sundays.

Is it convenient to travel with buses around Myanmar?
Not all destinations are convenient to travel by buses. For example, Myauk U or Sittway destinations. However, the new concrete high way, from Yangon to Mandalay, takes 7 hours only and starts running day buses. Bus tickets can buy around the Aung San Stadium (in front of the train station) or at the bus station. If you purchase tickets early, you will get front seats.
